A Simple Dream
In one of my varied deep conversations with a loved one a year or so ago we were on the topic of the future and goals and dreams, etc. No matter what I seemed to conjur up for my personal wants and desires I was met with the same reply every time… “it’s a simple dream”.
I cannot fathom the right-ness of that statement! I don’t expect to ever walk on the moon or cure cancer, but as far as career, family, and personal goals, there isn’t a more true statement.
My “bucket list” included both learning how to sail and one day owning a sailboat. Well, it turned out to be a simple dream. I bought twenty six feet of life insurance. If everything goes to hell I have a floating panic room. I am currently in the process of personalizing it as well as learning to sail.
I immediately fell in love with her and to quote Kenny Chesney, I “wouldn’t take a million for the way it makes me feel”. When I bought my first kayak, I jokingly named it “step 1”. I considered renaming my sailboat “step 2”, but I think I will leave her as “Mariah” (star of the sea). My sons have pitched in and taken to the boat as I have.
I understand that I’m in the infancy of learning and mastering the art of harnessing the wind and crossing bodies of water but… I am happy. Expect to hear a lot more about my sailing trips and misadventures.
On a personal note, it turned out to truly be a simple dream. Cheers!
