Getting Out Alive: 13 Deadly Scenarios and How Others Survived

I found myself once again reading the latest offering from Scott B Williams.  Getting Out Alive: 13 Deadly Scenarios and How Others Survived is a unique blend of fiction and fact.  Williams walks the reader through thirteen different life threatening situations (surviving a plane crash, stranded on a deserted island, lost in a rain forest, etc).

Survival books are nothing new.  What makes this book unique and what draws the reader in is the way he leads us through each of these situations.  Each chapter is told in second person which personalizes it for the reader.  He expertly places ME into the story.  He gives ME a background story, describes the scenario, and then escorts ME through the event.  Sprinkled within the stories are true life accounts of similar circumstances and their conclusions along with expert survival advice.  To reinforce the lessons to be learned the end of each chapter lists the top ten survival tips for that specific situation.

Williams has a firm grasp on situational survival and once again manages to appeal to the average person who has feared most of the scenarios at one point or another.  Seek out this book.  You will be both entertained and educated.

You may find yourself someday in one of the “deadly scenarios”.  After reading this book you will be better prepared to act.  Sure Williams wrote the book, but I recommended it to you, so you “thank you” checks should be made out to me.  …you’re welcome.

About

Avatar Lure of the Horizon is not only the title of this blog, it is a strong force in my life. As both a blessing and a curse, the restless soul has an affinity for the horizon; for something more, something new. I cannot change it, I can merely attempt to control it. ~Scott
